Rooted EdVentures exists to close the distance between what housing is supposed to do and what it's currently allowed to do.
Most affordable housing is built to a covenant that eventually expires. Rooted EdVentures (REV) was founded on a different premise: housing should build equity and stability for the people who live in it, not just returns for the people who finance it. That belief isn't a mission statement sitting apart from the business — it's expressed directly in the legal structures, financial architecture, and governance of every project we take on. Structure is the mission.
Casey brings a systems-thinking lens to housing finance that traces back to his mathematics and economics training at Georgia Tech and the University of Arizona. Before turning to housing full-time, he held a mathematics and gifted education faculty position at Arizona State University — work that shaped how he now approaches capital stacks, resident pathways, and partnership structures: as interlocking systems designed on purpose, not assembled ad hoc.
Casey completed the inaugural cohort of LISC Phoenix's Housing Developer Training Institute, and has spent the time since building Rooted EdVentures from the ground up — including personally developing and building every pro forma to prove the model holds.
REV is built as three distinct entities, each doing one job well.
In the next few years, our focus is proving B2R2O as a repeatable model — active projects across multiple states, a fully operational nonprofit development arm, and a growing network of CDFI, civic, and philanthropic partners who trust the framework enough to build on it themselves.
Further out, we see this framework operating in communities across Arizona and beyond in urban, suburban, and rural markets. We aim to develop and train a network of mission-aligned developers deploying B2R2O in their own markets. This will enable the Community Capital Flywheel to compound in the places that need it most.
"Housing should be a community benefit enhancer, not an extraction vehicle — and we structure projects that way."REV Founding Statement
